Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Theory Test UK (“we”, “us”, “the App”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application. By using the App, you agree to this policy.
1. Who we are
Theory Test UK is an independent study app for the UK car driving theory test. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) or GOV.UK.

2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the App, we may process:
- Account information — such as email address and authentication details if you sign in (for example via Apple or email).
- Study progress — practice answers, quiz results, favourites, and similar learning data you create in the App.
- Purchase / subscription data — handled by Apple (App Store) and our subscription partner RevenueCat. We receive entitlement status (for example whether you have an active Premium subscription), not your full card details.
- Device & technical data — such as app version, device type, and basic diagnostics needed to run and improve the App.
We do not intentionally collect special category (sensitive) personal data, and we do not ask for payment card numbers inside the App.
3. How we use information
- To provide and sync your account, progress, and favourites
- To unlock Premium features you purchase
- To restore purchases across devices where supported
- To fix bugs, maintain security, and improve the App
- To respond to support requests
- To comply with legal obligations
4. Legal bases (UK GDPR)
Where UK GDPR applies, we rely on:
- Contract — to deliver the App and subscriptions you request
- Legitimate interests — to keep the App secure, reliable, and improved
- Legal obligation — where the law requires us to retain or disclose information
- Consent — where we ask for it (for example optional communications), which you can withdraw at any time
5. Sharing with service providers
We use trusted providers who process data on our behalf:
- Supabase — authentication and cloud storage for account / progress data
- RevenueCat — subscription entitlement management
- Apple — App Store billing and Apple Sign In (when used)
We do not sell your personal information. Providers are only allowed to process data as needed to provide their services to us.
6. International transfers
Some providers may process data outside the UK/EEA. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards offered by those providers (such as standard contractual clauses) where required.
7. Retention
We keep account and progress data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards if needed for support, fraud prevention, or legal requirements. You can request deletion (see below).
8. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you may have the right to:
- Access a copy of your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Data portability (where applicable)
- Complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk)
To exercise these rights, email info@drivetheorytestapp.com.
9. Children
The App is intended for learner drivers and general users preparing for the theory test. It is not directed at children under 13. If you believe we have collected data from a child under 13, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
10. Security
We use industry-standard measures appropriate to our size and the nature of the data (including encrypted transport). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
11. Third-party content & links
Highway Code text and traffic sign imagery may include Crown copyright material reproduced under the Open Government Licence. Official GOV.UK / DVSA pages linked from the App have their own privacy notices.
12. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
